Own sending domain · Pro+
Send invoices from your own domain
Your invoices, quotes and payment reminders arrive from an address like invoices@yourbusiness.com.au, under your business name, instead of a generic app address. It is included with Pro+, and we set it up for you.
You need a domain you already own, such as the one your website or business email uses.
Why it matters
The address an invoice comes from is the first thing a client sees
It looks like you
An invoice from your own business address reads as coming from an established business, not from a piece of software.
It is recognised
Clients and their accounts teams see the same name on your website, your quotes and your invoices.
It is authenticated
Mail is signed for your domain, so receiving servers can check it was sent with your permission.
What sends from your domain
Once your domain is verified, everything the app emails to your clients uses it.
Invoices and quotes
Every invoice and quote, including recurring and scheduled invoices, comes from your address.
Reminders and chasing
Manual reminders and every step of the automatic chase schedule use your address too.
Statements and remittances
Monthly client statements and remittance advices go out under your domain as well.
Your choice of address and name
Pick the address, such as invoices@ or accounts@, and the sender name clients see in their inbox.
Replies come to you
When a client replies to an invoice email, the reply goes to your business email, not to us.
Set up for you
We prepare the DNS records, help add them, verify them and switch your sender over, at no extra cost.
What changes on your domain
Three new records, and nothing else
Connecting your domain adds a few DNS records that cover sending only. We prepare them, help you or your web person add them, and check they verify.
A signing record (DKIM)
Lets receiving mail servers confirm that invoices sent in your name really came from an authorised sender.
A sending permission record (SPF)
Lists who is allowed to send for a sending subdomain, such as send.yourbusiness.com.au. It sits on that subdomain only.
A bounce handling record (MX)
Also on the sending subdomain only, so it does not touch the mail records your normal inbox relies on.
Your existing email records stay exactly as they are, so your normal email keeps working.
Which plan sends from your own domain
Your own sending domain is a Pro+ feature. On the other plans, invoices come from our address with replies going to you.
Starter
A$0/month
Invoices send from Free Invoice App’s address, with your business name in the email itself and replies going to your business email.
Pro
A$9/month
The same sending address as Starter, with no "Powered by" watermark on your PDFs.
Pro+
A$24.50/month
Your own domain on every email the app sends to clients, plus automatic chasing and team access. The setup is done for you.
Common questions
Will connecting my domain affect my normal email?
No. The records we add cover sending invoices only and sit on a separate sending subdomain or signing record. Your existing email records are left exactly as they are, so your normal email keeps working.
Do I need my own domain?
Yes, you need a domain you already own, such as the one your website or business email uses. If you do not have one yet, invoices still send from our address with your business name and replies going to you.
Do you need access to my domain account?
No. We can send the records to you, or to whoever manages your website, to add. If you would rather we did it, you can give us access to your domain account and we only change the records needed for sending.
Where do client replies go?
To your business email address. Sending from your domain changes the address clients see, and replies to any invoice email come straight back to you.
How long does it take?
Adding the records takes a few minutes. Verification follows once the records are live, which can take a while with some DNS providers. We only switch your sender over once the domain has verified, so your invoices keep going out from our address in the meantime.
How much does it cost?
It is included with Pro+ at A$24.50 a month, or A$245 a year, and the setup is free. There is no separate fee for the domain connection.
